Review: Tonkatsu Enbiton’s Hokkaido Rosu Katsu Set
The Hokkaido Rosu Katsu Set at Tonkatsu Enbiton is a standout for pork lovers. The pork loin—sourced from Hokkaido—arrives deep-fried to golden perfection: crispy on the outside, yet juicy, tender, and richly flavorful within. It hits the sweet spot between indulgence and craftsmanship.
The set comes with free-flow rice, which is a welcome touch, especially given how well the fluffy grains complement the rich katsu. I added the Hotate (scallop) fry on the side—plump, sweet, and perfectly fried. A worthy pairing that elevated the meal.
While the price sits on the higher end, the generous portion and premium ingredients make it feel justified—not a steal, but certainly not a regret.
If there’s one weak link, it’s the service—efficient but a little indifferent. A warmer, more attentive approach would elevate the overall experience to match the quality of the food.
Verdict:
A well-executed katsu experience that delivers on flavor and quality. Come for the pork, stay for the scallops. Just don’t expect to be pampered.

The sandwich was satisfying and the pork was juicy and cooked just right. The sides were well served, and the sauce was made with fresh sesame seeds and was very tasty. The drinks were ok. Overall, it was a good experience.

We enjoyed dining at this restaurant, which offers stunning views of the Fountain of Wealth. The service was good and prompt, making the experience even more pleasant. Prices were standard for the quality we received. The tonkatsus were well-prepared and delicious. We also ordered the ramen and donburi, which tasted good overall. However, the dry ramen was slightly saltier than we would have liked. Despite that, it was a lovely dining experience with a beautiful view and quieter atmosphere compared to other parts of suntec

You know what? The food here actually delivers. The rosu katsu is surprisingly juicy, the portions are decent, and for what you’re paying, it’s pretty solid value.
I’d come back for the food alone, no complaints there. But everything outside of the plate leaves a little to be desired.
The interior vibe feels a little soulless, like they haven’t quite decided if they want to be fast-casual or sit-down dining. It’s clean, sure, but kind of sterile and forgettable.
Then there’s the ordering system. You scan a QR code, tap around on your phone, and your food just sort of appears eventually. It’s efficient in theory, but oddly enough, that same efficiency seems to free up the staff to mostly hang around, chat with each other, or zone out completely.
It just feels like a waste of manpower. With a little effort in sprucing up the interior and a bit more attentiveness from the team, this place could easily go from good to great. Right now, it’s tasty but kind of forgettable—an excellent kitchen held back by a mediocre front-of-house experience.
I'm nit-picking perhaps a little too much cos after our recent experiences at the oh-so-cosy Ma Maison and old dame Tonkichi, we are secretly thankful that there are still tonkatsu diners on the island that still serve up a palatable, satisfying fry-up.

Kids friendly. Free flow veggie, soup and sauce. It’s an open concept restaurant so pretty noisy from outside.

The Summer Unagi Toji Set was flavourful, with perfectly cooked eel simmered in a comforting broth of egg and house-made sauce. The Crispy Summer Unagi Set was a crunchy delight, especially with the sansyo tartar dip! Bonus points for the refreshing Lychee Mojito mocktail—it’s a must-try combo.

Their service staff were so efficient and fast and our order came with sticks of Golden Crispiness that were packed with flavor—
The menu starts from $2.50++ per skewer!
Really enjoyed the choice of deep-fried skewers, perfectly crispy with light and airy panko from Saitama, Japan. So good!
What we had from their Kushikatsu:
🍢Hokkaido Meat & Vegetable Kushikatsu Platter $16.5
Hokkaido pork loin, Hokkaido pork fillet, Hokkaido pork belly, chicken fillet, lotus root, button mushroom, pumpkin
- Signature Kushikatsu
Add $6 for choice of half pint Suntory Pilsner/Black beer (U.P. $10)
Premium beef, prawn, Hokkaido pork loin, lotus root, button mushroom, pumpkin, edamame, truffle fries
- Matcha Daifuku $5.5
Matcha daifuku with matcha ice cream
A nice fired sweet version for dessert was a good try.
They have a great 25th Anniversary Special (Till 14 March 2025!), such a good deal!
Enjoy the Classic Rosu Katsu Set for $12.38 (U.P. $16.50)! This signature pork loin tonkatsu is served with Japanese white rice, arugula & cabbage, pickles, and tonjiru (pork miso soup).
Highly recommend the menu for lunch and a relaxing gathering with friends with a nice highball here! I love the waterfall view! So therapeutic!

Tonkatsu Enbiton truly delivers an exceptional tonkatsu experience! The pork cutlet was perfectly crispy on the outside while remaining tender and juicy inside. The quality of the meat was top-notch, and the rich, flavorful miso sauce complemented it beautifully. The sides, including the finely shredded cabbage and warm miso soup, were fresh and well-prepared.
The service was excellent, with friendly staff who ensured a pleasant dining experience. The cozy ambiance added to the overall enjoyment. If you’re a fan of authentic Japanese tonkatsu, this place is a must-visit! Highly recommended!
