Ordered the ayam lemak, cabbage and omelette. The cabbage was average, but ayam lemak was nice and savoury. However, avoid the omelette if you have an issue eating oily food. It was very oily and we needed to squeeze out a fair amount of oil from each piece of omelette before eating, as we are not fans of having amounts of oil bursting out in the mouth with each bite. Service was quite slow - waited almost 40 mins for the food, despite restaurant being not crowded.

Went there for the buffet dinner course. Food was great especially the sting ray asam pedas and beef rendang! Authentic and delicious BUT was disappointed with the fried chicken belado, re-fried chix piece with the belado paste place over upon serving.

Dropped by Chopstix & Rice on a weekday evening for dinner and was honestly surprised by how empty it was—only about 2 to 3 tables were filled. Considering it's located in the bustling Suntec City, this peaceful atmosphere was actually quite a pleasant surprise. As for the food, it was decent, though nothing particularly memorable. The sotong was a little too tough and chewy, though the sauce that came with it was quite flavorful and helped carry the dish. The prawn omelette was not bad, a solid dish overall. The rendang was alright, but I wished the meat was more tender and that it came with more sauce, as it felt a little dry. The fried chicken was probably the best out of what we ordered—well seasoned and nicely done. Overall, this place is a good option if you're looking for a quiet spot to eat in a typically crowded mall. While the food might not blow you away, it's satisfying enough, and the peaceful dining experience might just be the reason to return.

Other than the beef rendang is ok, the rest is meh. This taste like normal nasi Padang.

I stumbled upon this place during lunch hour while I was in the area, and I am absolutely blown away by the quality and taste of the food. At first glance, it may resemble the typical Halal economy rice stall found in many food centres, but this one truly stands out. Once the selected ingredients are placed onto the plate, the dish looks inviting and utterly mouthwatering. The flavors are rich and satisfying, and the portions are generous, making the higher price seem more than worthwhile. I learned that dinner here offers a different experience, with a proper sit-down meal and dishes ordered from a menu. I am definitely eager to return and savor the evening offerings.

Ordered Ayam lemak, sayur lodeh and assam pedals ikan. I've never been more annoyed with the taste of the chicken. It was not marinated at all, had a smell to it (like those frozen chicken kind of taste) and the sauce was so salty. Assam pedas faired slightly better as the sauce was sour as it should be but it was too spicy for someone who doesn't take spcie. The sauce also did not penetrate into the stingray and lady fingers. The only dish that was passable was the sayur lodeh. The vegetables had the taste of the gravy but the tau kwa was deep fried or something cos it was so dry. Paid $45.68 for 3 dishes and 2 rice. Overpriced and horrible.

We were drawn to Chopstix & Rice, a halal Indonesian restaurant located at Suntec Basement 1, because of its impressive Google rating of 4.6 stars. However, our experience was somewhat disappointing. It might have been an off day for the kitchen, as the flavors didn’t quite live up to expectations. We ordered: - Chap Chye ($8.90) - Beef Rendang ($15.60) - Ayam Lemak ($10.90) - Asam Pedas Ikan Pari ($14.90) - Sotong Hitam ($15.90) - 3 Rice ($3.60) - 3 Drinks ($10.70) Total (with GST & service tax): $96.88. The portions were generous, like the Ayam Lemak, which had three large chicken pieces. Unfortunately, the gravy was slightly too salty. The stingray in Asam Pedas was a great size but overly sour due to too much tamarind. The Chap Chye felt a little dry, and the Sotong Hitam was bland. On a positive note, the Beef Rendang was exceptional—soft, tender, and full of flavor. Despite the mixed experience, the service and atmosphere were excellent. I’m considering giving them another try in the future to see if it was just an off day.

8/6/2025 update - Standard for the black sotong seemed to have dropped and didn’t quite taste as lemak as before. Fried egg with prawns was at least tasty but a bit oily. Mixed vegetables just very run of the mill. Very good tasting black sotong and a pretty lemak sayur lodeh. Ayam lemak was way too spicy for me. Would be back to try other dishes like the fish etc. Only one waiter serving the entire restaurant and the wait staff was pretty blur lol.

Order their chicken cutlet indomie. Asked the waiter which sauce is not spicy. He told us that “merah sauce” is only tomato sauce so we ordered that back home. When we got home, then we saw the chicken cutle is covered with chillies, how is this “not spicy”?

My friend and I had dinner here on 21 Nov and we had diarrhea 10 times in total, which started from 21 Nov and lasted for 2 days. We believed one dish was spoiled which was Ayam Lemak as the chicken tasted sour. We thought it was normal at first probably due to the spices used, hence we did not feedback to the staff. When I looked up information online, sour chicken means that it has turned bad. I sent an email to the restaurant on 22 Nov but there was no reply till now. This is really disappointing and we will not return again!
