Food was good, taste was great and very authentic and resemble very much local Penang fare. The Assam Laksa and Hokkien Soup Noodles were true to taste. However, they counted kids above 10 yo as adult which to me, is unreasonable.
Penang place has been in Suntec for a long time. The buffet is alright, has local favourites such as char kuey tiao, penang laksa, chicken satay, and others. It was crowded on the weekend dinner time
It’s heartbreaking to say this, but lunch at Penang Place at Suntec City was a letdown. This was once a spot we cherished, ever since we first discovered it at International Business Park in Jurong in the early 2000s. Whether it was the buffet or the à la carte dishes, there was always something to look forward to.
But today, the Char Kway Teow was over-fried, marred by bitter, burnt bits—almost as if the wok hadn’t been cleaned properly between batches. The Hokkien Prawn Mee had a rich, flavourful broth, but it was buried under an overwhelming tangle of noodles and beehoon — we finished the soup and left most of the noodles. And the biggest disappointment? The prawns—once sweet and juicy—were tasteless.
It’s a sad realisation, but this isn’t the Penang Place we used to crave. We won’t be coming back anytime soon.
Visited this restaurant named Penang Place.
We drove to Suntec City to have our buffet lunch at the Penang Place.
The reception staff greeted us with humble smiles as we are at the entrance.
Restaurant environment was very convincing, cozy with lots of tables available and guests already arrived taking their delicious food over that many varieties of delicacies.
We took the asam laksa, nasi lemak with the spicy gravy, prawn fried kway teow first on our 1st round.
The taste and aroma of the asam laksa and the prawn fried kway teow was very close similar with the food at Penang island itself, our excitement telling us to go for our next round of the delicacy.
Sure enough the satay plus the gravy was well prepared and super good that tempted us to continue our next rounds to fill our hunger until the ice chendol with the big red beans plus coconut milk - wow wow wow it is a real worth money spent tasting the delicious Penang food in Singapore.
Yesterday, 17/8 we spent another memorable lunch at the restaurant with free flow of durians.
Yummy

This is a fabulous restaurant serving delicious Penang cuisine. I didn’t know about the spectacular buffet selection in the restaurant. I ordered from the lunch menu. I will definitely return to try their buffet on my next trip.

Would give this place minus stars if i could.
The food here is below average. Had the chicken curry and kueh pie tie. The chicken curry is twice the price of a certain chain, but definitely not as good. The chicken was quite hard, and there's too much oil. The kueh pie tie is a rip off. They mention it has prawns and crab meat... those are apparently buried in the turnip, such that they can't even be found. The manager (?) did bring us half a prawn that they dug up. Considering how "chopped" up the prawn is supposed up be... there wasn't any in the portion we were given. One of the male staff could even laugh and say something about how it depended on our luck, or something like that.
As for the service... they clear your dishes without asking if you're finished. We weren't even done with the plate they cleared.
I would say you pay for what you get... but in this case, you don't.
Great Penang food! Was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Everything we had was amazing. We got ala carte but most people had the buffet - took a walk around and the spread was good, suitable for those who would like to try everything on the menu.
Crowd favourites were the salted egg chicken ($17.9) which were generously coated with salted egg (not cream sauce). Tender chicken chunks with robust salted egg flavour.
The Penang Char Kway Teow with Chung Ling eggs and big prawns ($19.9) was very well-done too. Full of wok hei, and the Chung ling eggs were so soft and creamy! Big prawns were huge and very fresh - bouncy ✌🏻we liked the Chung ling eggs so much we ordered ala carte add-on.
Beef rendang ($19.5) was amazing as well - rich rempah with soft and tender beef chunks. Portion was extremely generous for the price.
Assam laksa ($13.5) came with a HUGE piece of sardine, and the broth was tangy and not MSG laden. A very appetising dish.
Chicken satay was well-grilled and tender, with a tasty peanut sauce.

WE LOVE IT!
This is the place of choice when I crave for Penang food. It’s very authentic in terms of taste and flavour. I liked the Penang Asam laksa so much, it’s so sour and the broth was so rich. The beef rendang was very “lemak”. The price is very reasonable to the value. The service was good too. I will definitely go back.
