We went to this restaurant with lots of anticipation and excitement after seeing its 4-star reviews. However, a series of No-Nos caused huge disappointment. Firstly, there was a name change to Sumida which was not reflected online and didn't tally with the directory that had the old name. We went round in circles searching for it. Secondly, the service staff at the cashier didn't seem very keen to communicate despite us asking her about the menu. Thirdly, the tendon came with the rice only lukewarm instead of piping hot. Fourthly, the miso soup was served way ahead of the tendon, which already became cold when the tendon was served. Finally, we didn't like the way the service staff served our tendon as her fingers were touching the inside of the bowl. It was very unhygienic! After finishing the food, we couldn't wait to leave the restaurant. Hope the Management will read this review and do something about your staff and the SOP.

Awesome tempura and very tasty sauce with the rice, many different contents and coke with free miso soup. Served very quickly The service is welcoming and come earlier if u don’t want to queue. Affordable Big portion. highly recommended for anyone who want to get their tendon fix . The spicy sauce is really good , just get the normal don

The food is quite nice but not fantastic. The service is okay, nothing to complain about. There's always a queue outside I think. We came for lunch and the waiting is so so.
Overall I think it's not bad but not something special that I want to come back given the long queue (often) and the price. Everything is quite standard.

Tempura speciality restaurant, limited seating and long waiting time as the chief will fry the tempura only upon order placed. Freshly fried tempura tasted crispy and savoury with the drizzled spicy sauce. Recommend Truffles Kakiage Tendon a nice balanced meal to enjoy.
Chawanmushi (stem egg) was silky smooth and slightly on the salty end. The cold green tea only has very slight hint of green tea taste, while miso soup was nothing to shout about.
Prepare to queue for at least half an hour during peak hours. One of the Chawanmushi served has soured and they manage to change it out. Staffs were arguing besides customers.

Great tempura dons here. Arrived at 9PM (they close at 10PM on the dot) and did not have to wait for seats. The waiting time for the food was pretty long, so we did not have much time to eat.
The tempura were great. The missing star is due to the white rice being too wet. The other bowl that was multi grain rice was not as wet.
Staff were very kind.

Simply authentic and memorable Japanese tempura tendon. Visited this restaurant on a Thursday and there are many seats available the crowd progressively come in from 6.15pm onwards. I had their signature Kohaku tendon set with tempura egg and it was excellent. I recommend the original sauce separated so that the tempura will remain crispy for longer. Service crew are attentive and I recommend their chawanmushi for its flavourful and fresh. Will return again.

Come and expect great tempura dons. The rice can be a little too salty due to soy sauce, but once you can customize that, the fried items are just awesome! The serving is very filling, and the presentation is top-notch! Great place for a quick lunch or quick bite. Will come back to try more new items. Pleasant service too!

Tried their Signature & Spicy Edomae Tendon Bowls and it's addicting! We queued up for 1 hour to get our hands on this heavenly bowl of Hokkaido Rice and Tempura (which is worth the wait & calories) Highly recommended!

Still pretty decent. However, the oil fried batter does not seem as crispy and light as before. It tasted a little too greasy and almost doughy??? Nothing fantastic about the miso soup and chawamushi, I guess it’s it’s a nice add on for getting the set meal.

Tendon Kohaku is conveniently located in North Atrium Level 3 of Suntec City, in the tower above Olivia and Co.
They serve really good tendons, with the options of Hokkaido white rice and Japanese 16-kinds Multigrain rice. The original and spicy sauces are really good, so much so that we have never tried the mala sauce.
Do be prepared to queue during rush hour but the food is worth the wait. The service on the other hand is friendly, yet rushed. Also do be prepared that either of the rice options will be sold out if you come after 1830. This has happened to us twice in a row, for both their white rice and multigrain rice options.
