The jajangmyeon and spicy tteokbokki combo was a flavor bomb, but not in the way I'd hoped. The jajangmyeon was overwhelmingly rich, and the tteokbokki's spice was so intense it overpowered all other flavors. It was a bit too much for my taste.
It's hard to find a good jjajangmyeon+ jampong place in Singapore as most places either do one or the other well. This place actually does both very well and the jjampong has lots of seafood ingredients in it, very peppery. Only thing that was disappointing was the tangsuyuk, I've definitely had better but it's ok. Everything came As a set for less than $35, seemed like there was a promo. As the noodle dishes were the highlight, I would definitely come back. We came at 6-630pm on a weekend, no wait to get a table. The restaurant space is quite random, it is at the basement of suntec but not inside an actual restaurant space but an open space right beside the main walk way. It can get abit noisy as the space isn't enclosed.
Nice service staff but only 2 staffs to handle all the tables, clear the tables, etc.
Hot & cold barley tea are refillable, but the service staff had to attend to each table when require.
To Paikâs management, I would like to recommend, each table is placed with a hot flask of barley tea & 1 bottle of cold barley tea. It is more work effective for your floor staff.
The jjajangmyeon could be better, but the mayo spicy chicken was a winner â really crunchy and delicious. It blended perfectly with the spicy sauce, giving a great balance of flavour and heat.
Would come back just for the chicken!
Paik is a known chef in Korea.. happy to try the dishes here.. the spicy fried chicken was not spicy for us. Rose teobokki was yummy đ
It was Friday night prefect time to drink the beer lol
Overall we had a good dinner.
But the tastes is nicer in Korea lol
Came here to celebrate my sonâs birthday. The staff were friendly and patient when taking our orders. Service was fast and quick. Highly efficient. Bob our server was super nice and attentive to all the guests dining at this time. Food was great and value for $$$.
This is my personal experience, it does not reflect on the actual experience.
The price does not justify the service, atmosphere and food
Considering it being very empty on a valentine's dinner, the service was rather lacking, with that price point the service felt like being served in a hawker centre instead of a restaurant. Was also told that they DO NOT PROVIDE ICE WATER like most restaurants do. Staff even delivered the wrong order. Chairs were acceptable but towards the uncomfortable side. Was planning to order the breakfast section ( farmer's breakfast) but was told it wasn't available ( did not state on the menu that it was until 2pm only), the uncle at the bar was nice tho.
Atmosphere was off putting considering it's undermaintained exposed floor hazard, there were FLIES IMAGINE HAVING FLIES IN AN INDOOR RESTAURANT IN TOWN AREA, tables were mouldy.
Food was good tho pasta portion was rather small considering I have a small appetite, scallops were bland. Peri peri chicken burger was great!
Overall unpleasant experience, would not recommend but do come and experience yourself.
Total bill was $60 for 2 meals alone
Went on Sunday around 2pm and didnât have to wait for a table. Food was alright, price is ok for a mall cafe.
UTENSILS WERE ABSOLUTELY FILTHY. There were wet food scraps and the utensils had to be changed multiple times. Staff were nonchalant about it too. Will never revisit.
Revised:
My wife made a surprise reservation for the family to celebrate Father's Day. Sadly, the experience felt more like a Kitchen Nightmare: Singapore edition.
When we arrived, we were clearly seen by the staff at the counterânone of whom were attending to any tables at the momentâbut we were still ignored for a good while. We stood awkwardly at the entrance, wondering if it was a free-seating or self-service setup. Eventually, someone came over to greet usâhalf-heartedly.
We ordered steak, which was clearly pictured with fries on the menu, but were instead served mashed potatoes. If you're going to change a key part of a dish, at least inform the guest. We were genuinely looking forward to the friesâhad we known, we mightâve gone with something else.
Service-wise, things didnât improve. No cutlery was provided when the food arrivedâat staggered timings. My wife asked once, and several minutes later, I had to walk over to the staff myself, hoping to just take the cutlery directly. Only then did they scramble to assemble a basket of utensils. Instead of handing it to me, they insisted it would be brought over (more delay). And when it finally arrivedâno steak knife. A minute later, two were passed across the table into the basket, serrated side up, right between my toddler and me. Thatâs some Gordon Ramsay-level health and safety violation.
Look, the food mightâve passed on tasteâbut paired with awkward hospitality, missing elements, and poor service flow, even the best steak would struggle to redeem the experience. For a restaurant charging at this price point, basic expectations arenât highâtheyâre just expected.
If Chef Ramsay were there, Iâm pretty sure heâd side with the customer on this one. One star not out of spite, but out of honesty. A second chance? Only if thereâs a full cast, camera crew, and a dramatic walk-in scene.
